Moon mountain
Moon Mountain region is a virgin soil in Guizhou. It is situated in the border region of three counties–Congjiang, Rongjiang and Sandu in the southeast of Guizhou. In this region live various minority tribes such as Miao, Zhuang, Shui and Dong etc. they live in harmony with each other and the nature in a primitive and wild way. The big mountains isolated these tribes from the outer world and keep their pure, wild and real minorities culture and costume for thousands years.
The mountain is very steep so that the road entering this region is not comfortable. The green and thick primitive forests cover the mountain. In some part of the mountain the narrow terraced fields extend from the foot to the top of the mountain like the steps to heaven. (It is a good occasion to admire the terraced fields on the road between Jajiu and Guanghui.)
The villages are spotted on the slop covered with the terraced field and woods. The proverb “mountain is more high, the emperor is farther! “describe the geographic condition. And only in this isolated region the minority’s people can keep their own various kinds of colorful costume, customs and architecture.
The marketing is an important stage to show beautiful and capacity for minority’s female. The girls wear their best clothes and dress up as beautiful as possible before go to the market. The market is also an important association place for minority place. On the market the people meet the friends and relatives and transmit some important information to each other. Jiajiu and Guanghui are the two important markets place in this region.
