Hike in Zhaoxing area

Here in Dong countries “there are not three acres of flat land, three days without rain and three cents in the pockets of people”! This proverb is still valid, it seems!
By a small winding road we climb to the summit of the mountain to the village of Dong ethnic, Tang’an. The village was built around the year 1800 and now it is an eco-museum for Dong ethnic culture.
Here people live in clans dominated by the 2 clans: the Ying and Lu who built the Drum Tower.
At the foot of the village, we see a beautiful bridge of “Wind and Rain” that spans a lot of water to reach the last houses of the village.

This wonderful site is being transformed by the frenzy of construction of new wooden houses that are emerging for tourism. We fled into the rice fields to escape the noise of construction sites!
From these heights we go for walking, to mountains, to rice paddies and to the village of Xiaje, seeking authenticity of rural life.
The Drum Tower is the center of little village of Tang’an with 800 peoples.
Around the Village are the slopes with cultivated rice paddies and narrow paths.

The terraced rice fields is just been filled with water, some of them is not been ploughed yet. We can see the remains of stubble from the previous crop until plowing.
We are moving on a path between rice paddies.
There was water everywhere … good opportunity to install and run a mill!

We arrive at a pretty village of Xiage with three Drum Towers, which is the symbol of richness.
We must reach across a small cemetery on the hillside.
The spectacle unfolds before our eyes as we continue to walk down, the temperature is gentle.

We often stopped to observe the activities of peasants absorbed in their work fields.
It is the magic of reflections and colours.
and a great serenity in approaching Zhaoxing
